Scientific Method
Scientific method is a problem is identified, relevant data are gathered, a hypothesis is formulated from these data, and the hypothesis is empirically tested. It helps you stay organized while your doing an experiment. Scientific method is the best process for uncovering the processes by which both physical and human events occur.
We made our own experiment so we could practice scientific method. My group and I tested it on how fast a car will go on different slants of a ramp. In the end it went fastest when the ramp was slanted more upward.

Why do we use it and why does it matter if we use it or not?
Theory vs. Law
Scientific Theory means that it is something that is well tested and widely excepted as correct. It also explains what it is talking about in great depth. Scientific Law means that it is know to be correct and always happens, but it can't be explained.
We had cards in a plastic bag that had theories and laws on them. We had to separate them into two groups; theories, laws. After we separated them we checked to see if we put them in the right place and we did. :-)
Why are Scientific laws unable to be explained?

Science and Society
Science and Society means how and what science is used for in everyday activities and how it effects us.
We use it when we are out shopping by being informed on a product and seeing on much a sale is off an item. We also use pros and cons without even noticing it or thinking about it.
We did a pros and cons on off shore drilling with the whole class. We had to research it first and then write down what we thought was a pro or a con. After we did that Ms. Keene wrote done our pros and cons on the board and asked the class if we thought there was more pros or more cons. I said more pros. :-P
Why does science effect our lives so much?
